Namasté/Nahmahstay! Prahnahmms! AGTSP! Primarily for the sake of (basic) simplicity this (humble) final (somewhat regretful and apologetic) "readme" is to (sadly) confirm that the Vedabase phonetic editing project has now officially been retired due primarily to computer(s) ability to read the online Vedabase using (Google's) English (India) TTS voices, effectively making further phonetic editing work impractical and unnecessary! Also considering what an utterly massive task that such phonetic editing of the entire Vedabase would be for any particularly (tiny) jiva soul, and that this site's materially embodied (limited individual) soul developer (unfortunately) also has a particular physical disability (impediment) that disrupts and hampers any truly efficient typing capability due to a particular side effect of psychiatric drugs which caused hand tremors known as "Pseudo Parkinson's" (which hadn't happened yet when such phonetic editing was started a number of years ago). Anyway, if any particularly physically able (devotional) bodied person(s) (especially any of Lord Krishna's embodied devotees) would like/care to do some themselves (along with the software downloads) said individuals are particularly invited to do some (being so inspired), having personally done some as an example! So enough is enough personally, all things considered, well and truly, having thus given up the personal desire, and interest, for the Vedabase to be phonetically edited for computer(s) reading by myself! Jai! It's not an issue to do so as it's a necessary part of keeping basic mental sanity in the material world and Kaliyuga age especially! One may be easily forgiven for being a limited soul with such limitations and restrictions in material existence, such as old age which is due to the influence of the time factor, which is Krishna, the unlimited Supreme Personality of Godhead as stated by Him in the Gita! If nothing else we are all servants of the Supreme Lord as time, and we little limited spirit souls all naturally have our own individual God-given free-will to do something or not, as was the case with Arjuna on the battlefield of Kurukshetra accompanied by Krishna Himself! The (only) alternative is eternal spiritual activities, of course, but such is ultimately meant for the spiritual world(s), not the material "prison house." Also as nobody else has shown any tangible interest in such editing efforts (including the Bhaktivedanta Book Trust), so the Vedabase phonetic editing project has been (positively) retired/closed! Seems God/Krishna Himself doesn't particularly mind retirement from such phonetic editing of the Bhaktivedanta Vedabase due to such being (mainly) based on material interest, so no need for any major concern as He's not obligated to have any responsibility such being fully spiritual Himself, fully independent and is not at all obliged, bless Him! "He is completely free to do anything and everything!" He is the Supreme worshipable Lord, after all! Jai! It's said that God/Krishna never expects anything from oneself that one can't handle or cope with, but He may have done with the idea of phonetically editing the entire Vedabase. Anyway, better something than nothing done! Also, the (XPlat) Vedabase download provides the opportunity for others, who do not have any such physical disability, to do their own such phonetic editing (along with ChatGPT/CoPilot), as willing and able to of course! Otherwise such individuals are simply welcome to learn something new (pretty much mainly spiritually) from the Vedabase and have a go at cooking some of its most delicious (Krishna approved) recipes also! Jai! So, all the best! It's very important to understand ones limitations, and God's lack of limitations (thus what phonetic editing has been accomplished is "done and dusted"). Finito! Also that He understands better than we do our limitations, because He made us all that way! And, to admit ones limitations does require genuine humility!!! Truth is that even though jiva souls are limited, there are unlimited numbers of them! Quote: "The kingdom of God is unlimited; therefore the number of the assisting hands of the Lord is also unlimited." In that way we jivas are not limited, in number. Hence it's true that "many hands make light work," so cooperatively jiva souls working together eventually may get it adequately accomplished. The Godhead alone can do anything and everything so He alone could very easily edit the Vedabase phonetically completely by Himself! But does He really want to? That's another (serious) consideration entirely! Doubtful! So, any (sufficiently educated) jiva soul(s) can play with doing phonetic editing of Vedabase texts. It's not difficult but it is very involved! No doubt however there are certainly more mode of goodness (pleasant) things that can be done rather than slaving on a computer day in and day out (especially when nobody appears to appreciate such). That's been a personal realization! It's indeed unfortunate that ISKCON and the BBT (apparently) are not team players with regards to phonetic editing of the Vedabase, at this time, but one way or another they will have to deal with TTS technology and AI at some time in this Kaliyuga's future anyway, "like it or lump it!" Perhaps the BBT may reconsider regarding using AI to phonetically edit the Vedabase, at that future time, particularly for reading by English TTS voices. One doesn't know, but does know that the Veda says that there's only one truly good (and simple) thing in the Kaliyuga age, and it's not computers, nor phonetic editing, nor English, but is the Holy Names in the form of the divine/sublime Mahāmantra! One can thank the Supreme Lord for that also! So, we are wishing well regardless of whether the Vedabase is ever edited phonetically or not! Life goes on regardless! Jai hoe! With that in mind, am personally leaving it as it is without any further additions or modifications, as to do that would be without any official (necessary) authorization (and cooperation), hence the project has officially been retired/cancelled! So, may (the Supreme) God bless, always, and never curse!!! So, in the meantime, am personally (very fondly) simply (meditatively) thinking of (pre-industrial) Shree Vrihndahvahn Dhahm (Vrindavan Dham), as it was once upon a time, and also listening to the 24hr (online) Vrihndahvahn kir-tahn broadcast! Am sorry for having personal limitations but also accept such God-made/given limitations at the same time. That's part and parcel of Krishna consciousness! Anyway, "something's better than nothing" is the philosophy of this website! Jai hoe! Bas! So all glories to Shree Guru and Shree Gaurahnga! Jaya Shreelah Prahbhohpahhdah! May the (source of) the "force" be with one always (which He is as the Supersoul within all beings anyway). Jai! Jaya Nitai Gaurah Rahdhay Shyahhmm!!! Jaya Shree Gihreegohvardhaan! Atisarga/Ahhteehsargah (अतिसर्ग)! Gaurahnga! Hurray Krishna!!! Hari Haree-bol! Wishing all well, always! So all the best, also with Krishna and all the rest!!! Humble regards, 'Bhuck'ta - (vrajiva@gmail.com)
